A better new year to everyone – let’s meet in the name of poetry! We will hold Ruusu Open mic remotely on Zoom and Facebook via livestream – as the current Corona situation demands. It will be an evening filled with performance poetry and splendid atmosphere. Let’s have a poetic party!
All our poets will meet on Zoom and the event will be streamed on Facebook as an event via the Helsinki Poetry Connection page at 17.00 PM (UTC+3). Link to event: https://www.facebook.com/events/468378320821868/
As is custom, the Sunday stage begins with two warm up acts followed by the main event, the open mic evening itself. We have two interesting and enchanting acts; one that is no stranger to the poetry scene the promising Ida Hiillos and the established poetry veteran and recently published poet Sampo Sihvola. The evening will be hosted by Tania Nathan.
Interested in performing with your own poetry? You can join the open mic via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Just add to the subject line: Ruusu Open mic and your name. You will then get instructions on how to join via Zoom, all you need is a computer or smartphone with a camera and microphone. We prefer live acts and there are 25 open mic spots available, with each slot being 4 minutes long. We are happy to welcome international performers, as this is an unique way to do our poetry club globally.
Each performer will be carefully listened to and cheered on – especially, if it’s your first time! Unfortunately we can’t give you the audience’s applause, so you will get a recorded audio sequence of applause.
Ruusu Open Mic is free from any discrimination. We don’t accept any racist or hateful content or behaviour. Our event adheres to Safer Space Guidelines found at Helsinki Poetry Connection´s website.
