The Helsinki Poetry Connection is the only organisation in Finland devoted specifically to developing performance poetry, spoken word, slam, and open mic culture at home and abroad. Join the spoken word revolution and show your love for the HPC by becoming a member of our association!
The membership of the registered association is what grants the board its responsibilities and privileges. By paying a small annual membership fee (min 10€), you gain the right to run for a board position at the association’s annual meeting, and you will be invited to a members-only poetry shindig each year. Not only that, but you would be providing us, the HPC’s tireless producers, a very real helping hand!
Since the beginning, one of our primary concerns has been to make sure that the performers, graphic designers, photographers, and other collaborators who make our events possible all get fairly paid for their services. Apart from rare exceptions, the HPC’s events are always free of charge, so that no one’s income would disqualify them from experiencing live poetry. We rely primarily on grants (kindly provided by various foundations and the like) to keep our spoken word boat afloat, but funding is fickle. Every membership fee we receive goes into our quest for a more creative and equitable world!
