Ruusu Open Mic 27.9., 25.10., 29.11. and 20.12.2020
After Corona spring Ruusu Open Mic is back on its physical roots! This Spring and summer weren´t all rosy, but hopefully we can have all the rest of the 2020 clubs safely back at Sörkän Ruusu. This Sunday poetry club starts with two invited warm up acts followed with the main event, that is the open mic itself.
If Coronavirus situation gets worse, club will be held online. Please, always check updated information with regards this on our website!
The open mic slots are exceptionally limited to only 15. You can register for them by queueing according to the safety distance guidelines during the first break right after the featured poets. We recommend the usage of face masks, good hand hygiene and/or bringing your own mic to the event when performing. Unfortunately you cannot reserve your spot in advance and the running order will be randomly drawn. Please, note that each open mic slot´s 5 min long.
Each performer is carefully listened to and cheered on especially, if it’s your first time! You can also hook up your instrument or beats to our sound system with your own cord.
Ruusu Open Mic is free from any discrimination. We don’t accept any racist or hateful content or behaviour. We also have safer space guidelines that can be found at our website.
Notes: Unfortunately, Sörkan Ruusu is not fully accessible. At the main entrance ~ 20cm step and door ~ 60cm wide, side door ~ 20cm step and door ~ 55cm wide, and there is some kind of plywood ramp if asked. However, one of the bathrooms is accessible and all the bathrooms are for all genders! We have an induction loop for hearing aid users. Also, if you want to help hard of hearing persons, you can bring your text by paper or by phone – our producer will help how to bring texts forward.
